“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” — Plutarch
When attempting to answer the ubiquitous question regarding schooling options for our sons, I inevitably feel myself slipping down the precipice of confusion. I want to share our family plans happily and confidently, but the truth is, I haven’t quite wrapped my head around it yet. I have an imagination full of ideas and dreams about the joyful days I want to spend with my children, providing them opportunities to explore nature, books, history, creative projects, and the worlds which can only be entered through un-dictated free play.
So far I think we’re making good progress in learning to take life slow and find answers to all the questions we can imagine, but then again, the boys are young still. I realize I don’t yet know how to do this homeschool gig, but I’m looking forward to figuring it out together with our superstar learning team — our family. 🙂 I want to document some of our adventures along the way, and I hope that others might be encouraged to experiment with out-of-the-box approaches to life and learning.
I’ve moved to a new website: https://realworldlearners.com/. I am leaving this current blog (funschoolingadventures) intact but will not continue updating it. Please come visit me at my new website to see recent posts, find free educational printables (mostly math-related), get access to my latest learning resources, and follow stories about our ongoing funschooling adventures.
